Electricity Conservation means Business – OPA Speaker: Sean Brady Sept 24th

Investments in energy efficiency delivers long-term, substantial returns usually in excess of 30%. The Ontario Power Authority will invest over $1 billion in the next 3 years to help Ontario businesses to take control of electricity costs by upgrading equipment, improving processes, and proactively managing when and how to use electricity.

Meet Sean Brady, Director, Demand Response and Industrial Programs at OPA who will provide an overview of the funding available to Ontario businesses to improve efficiency and reduce peak demand. Electricity conservation targets are embedded in the Ontario Power Authority’s long-term demand forecast and therefore as critical as new generation to ensure the reliability of Ontario’s electricity system. More than 25 programs, available province wide through a number of program delivery partners will be available in 2008. Find out how to get the most out of energy efficiency for your business and access the funding that will improve your return on assets, your competitiveness, and bottom line.

OPA Speakers – To be determined.

Green Communities Canada (GCC) will host a three day national low-income energy efficiency conference, Building the National Road Map for Energy Retrofits (working title), in Toronto in 2008.

This 2008 event is the follow-up to the highly successful 2005 national symposium, Affordable Efficient Housing: Towards a National Energy Efficiency Strategy for Low-Income Canadians. The 2005 event brought together over 90 delegates from a variety of backgrounds - from the energy and housing fields; from the non-profit, government and private sectors for two days in February 2005. Delegates listened to experts, jointly discussed policy issues and developed a call for action. This highly successful Halifax symposium generated momentum that led to a $500 million federal commitment to a national low-income energy efficiency program for Canada.
