More than ever, small businesses in Ontario are looking for ways to achieve efficiencies without breaking the bank. That's where the Power Savings Blitz comes in. With this initiative, qualifying businesses can receive up to $1,000 in energy-efficiency improvements - at absolutely no cost or obligation.

Helping you work toward greater energy efficiency is precisely what the Power Savings Blitz is all about. When you choose easy and effortless upgrades for your place of business, you'll be well on your way to lowering your monthly electricity bills. Upgrading with newer, more energy efficient lighting technologies, for instance, will go a long way toward reducing your electricity consumption. And this is just one of the simple steps you can take to see measurable bottom line results.

How Does the Power Savings Blitz Work?

Assess Your Business
A Power Savings Blitz representative from your local participating electric utility will contact the stores and businesses in your area with an electricity demand of less than 50kW. Experienced and knowledgeable, your representative will quickly identify the specific opportunities your business has for becoming more energy efficient.

Identify Your Options
When you accept the offer to perform a free energy assessment of your lighting and water heating, your cost and savings opportunities will be determined. While the primary focus is on lighting upgrades, other measures will also be assessed. After the assessment, the decision to move forward with the retrofit or not, is yours. If you do decide to go ahead with the retrofit, a signed work order form and customer agreement will get things underway.

Install the Upgrades
While funding of up to $1,000 is provided for the retrofit (including the cost of the material and labour), with an opportunity for the business owner to pay for any costs over the $1,000 limit. The minimum amount for a free retrofit is $300. Once the work order and customer agreements are signed, an appointment will be made for a licensed electrical contractor to visit your business at a time that is convenient for you to complete the retrofit.

Helping Business Save Money

Your Power Savings Blitz representative will:

• Quickly assess your lighting and other potential electricity-savings possibilities
• Determine where – and how – your business could save money on your utility bill by becoming more energy-efficient, mainly through lighting improvements
• Walk you through your choices and the possible monthly savings
• Remind you that the first $1,000 spent on improvements is at NO CHARGE TO YOU
• Detail the additional improvement opportunities and their associated costs
• Once you’ve chosen the improvements you want, arrange for a licensed, experienced contractor to do the installations – when it’s most convenient and will not interfere with your operation
• Rest assured, you have the ability to choose your own retrofits

Funded by the Ontario Power Authority, the Power Savings Blitz is proudly offered by your participating electric utility. There’s no doubt that saving money on your electric bills is important but so too is your support for a cleaner environment that will benefit your customers, your community and our entire province.
